Today has finally come! The day of the first reveal of the much anticipated 7th Bead Soup Blog Party!
My partner is the lovely Tamera Norris and I hope that you visit her at Beads Inspire Me. Tamera in her words is a "beginning beader". In addition to beading, she crafts and runs a couple of businesses.
The soup Tamera sent me went missing. So Lori Anderson, the queen of the Bead Soup Blog Party kindly stepped up and sent me the following beautiful soup from her own private stash.
In the front is the unique sterling silver pendant which Lori has been hoarding in her special stash. She included a beautiful triangle toggle clasp from www.indoexpo.com which is back left. Next to the clasp are four purply pink patinaed coins from MissFickleMedia.com. The soup is surrounded by purple silk ribbon from MarshaNeal.com. In the middle from left to right are Czech glass rondelles in a special coating, aqua teal dyed cultured pearls, and pink Swarovski crystal.
My brain went into overdrive with this beautiful soup. I love making my own chain and clasps and findings so having a clasp already made was very new to me. I took inspiration from the geometric shapes in the pendant and clasp to make triangle and oval links for the chain. Triangles were a no brainer once I saw the clasp as they are my favourite geometric shape. I wanted to make a chain that complemented the pendant. I made the links from sterling silver and soldered them.
I knew the necklace needed something else but I didn't want to detract from the pendant, which is the star. So I decided to place the patinaed coins either side of the pendant and intersperse some czech rondelles in the chain. Here is the finished necklace.
This necklace is also prime. I love prime numbers. There are: 13 triangle links, 19 oval links, 2 patinaed coins, 5 czech rondelles, 1 pendant, and 1 clasp!
I hope you come back to visit because earrings are in the works using the two remaining coins and some of the crystals and of course some minature triangle and oval links.
